An adventurous homeschooling and unschooling community, where life is for the learning!
Move Over 'Fringe'
Homeschooling is fast becoming mainstream, and we’re not surprised! Learning outside the classroom is fun and effective.
At the OC Homeschool Group, we incorporate weekly Field Trips and Socializing Opportunities to supplement the learning you do at home.
If you’re looking to add friends, fun and field trips to your homeschool week – and believe kids need free play, sunshine and fresh air to thrive – we’d love to hear from you! We are always looking for nice families to add to our mix.
Thursday Park Day
We meet at the same park every week from 12:30 until 5:30pm. The parents pull up beach chairs and spread out blankets under a large shade tree – chatting and sharing support, resources and stories from the week – as the kids while away the day with their friends.
We believe free play isn’t just nice to have – it’s necessary. So the kids have lots of time and space to just enjoy. Our group supplies a giant bag of sand toys, ropes and other items…as well as a table full of craft supplies. We leave these items out for the kids to use freely without any formal instruction. We think it’s better that way!
Tuesday Field Trips
The OC Homeschool Group embarks on a new Field Trip every Tuesday. (You read that right…every, single Tuesday!) We believe in the power of “learning by doing.” We build creations, tour museums, enjoy culture, try classes, question experts…all in the name of curiosity.
While some of our Field Trips are free, most fall within the $5-$10 per person range. (With some a little more.) Field Trips are a big part of our group culture. Our families feel the gift of experience is priceless and well worth this small price of admission.
